Build-A-Brandâ„¢
This week's lecture considered the importance of a holistic approach towards the design of brand identities. We looked at a number of case studies to showcase how the best brands are built from the ground up with a deep understanding of core values and that a brand is a distillation of these values.
This Week's Recommended Book
Alina Wheeler's Designing Brand Identity goes deeper than the typical, '10,000 Inspiring Brands' approach often taken in branding books (not that these weighty tomes don't serve a the occasional useful purpose for inspiration: 1, 2. 3, 4...).
This book will serve you for life. If you're in any way interested in branding (and you should be), we recommend it highly to give you a solid branding awareness on which to build.
The Live Project
We ran two briefing sessions for the live project on Friday, 2 December, 2011. As discussed at the sessions, the deadline for the initial content (branding proposals and a beta web site) is 4.00 pm on Wednesday, 7 December.
As we discussed there will be a crit. in Week 11. In order for your work to be considered for the crit., we need it all to be uploaded by the deadline above. We need to see both your branding ideas (these can be linked from your research diaries) and a beta version of your site. Please upload this to the following location (or provide a redirect from this location):

(Change ~B00123456 for your student ID.)
The branding templates we showed for developing your live project brand ideas are available to download here. The content for the web site is available here.
