Build Conference
Due to staff and student participation at Build Conference, there was no lecture or staffed lab session this week. The labs were still available for student use, but on the understanding that this was unsupervised.
We encouraged students to attend the evening events and, where possible, the conference itself. We strongly urged the students to avail of the opportunity to spend some time out in the evenings talking to people and networking. The Foursquare based app, built by the fine folks at FreeAgent, will help cluster conversations.
We informed the students that we'd do what we've done in previous years, which is ensure we introduce visiting speakers to the students so they have a great opportunity to meet inspiring people. This worked well over the past two years and gives the students the chance to speak personally with some very high profile designers and developers.
