DES106 - Introduction to Communication Design

DES106 Hand-in Details

Hand-in day for all of your DES106 material will be Monday 9th January 2011 between 12.00–13.00.

All of your work – Design Diary and Projects – should be handed in on a CD or USB thumb drive (may not be returned) clearly marked with your student number, DES106 and your name.

Every year there are a few CDs that don't work, these are seen as a "Did not submit" and require a re-sit. Can you please ensure that all of your media have been tested and work before you hand it in.

While we will be using the material on your webspace to mark from, we may need to use the disks if there are any issues with the IMD server, so please make sure your disk contains everything we need and that it works.

Your work should be handed in to me at the Belfast Campus on C floor (the floor above the lecture theatre. If you are coming up the stairs take a left (right if you are taking the lift) and walk past the School Office, through the double doors and I will be sitting close to the kitchen area on the far side (above the LRC). I will have the necessary forms which you must complete and sign personally to complete your module submission.

A non-submission at this stage will result in you failing the module with a re-sit over the summer.

Have a great Christmas and we will see you in the new year.

See week 12 for information on FTP access over the holiday period

Just my Type

This book cannot come highly recommended enough, Just my Type is a very accessible little book looking at the origins of typography from Guttenberg to De Groot. Where some books on typography can be somewhat dry and lets say it, boring this is a very easy and informative read.

If you haven't done so Get Dropbox!!

As mentioned in the lecture, if you're not using it, we strongly recommend you sign up for a Dropbox account. You can use this for a number of purposes: as a means of sync'ing multiple computers; as a means of creating a free, shared working space to enable collaboration with your colleagues; or as a form of off-site storage for archiving purposes.

If you click one of the links below you get an additional 250MB of storage space free and we know you like free things!

Confused already? Just click on one of the links, but which one will you choose?

Thanks for sharing the love and enjoy your Dropbox.
